With the festivities over and a great long weekend away in Shanghai it was back to reality on the 2nd with a full day of classes. So not much of a holiday but there is some solace in the knowledge that Chinese New Year is coming up in February and that is a big deal for them. It hasn’t been confirmed yet but we will get 5 -7 days off  over that period which is something to look forward to.

On Monday we didn’t have a workshop in the morning so it was a chance to sleep in and recover from the shock of being back at work so soon after New Year’s. I also only finish at 20:00pm on a Monday so it is a long day when I have to start at 9am. Monday’s are also when we have our movie nights at school on the big screen but I decided to skip the movie and instead take advantage of the school being open late to catch up on e-mails and my blog after the holidays. Something was missing though; music ! Looking at my watch and quickly calculating the time difference I worked out I could tune into my friend Guy’s radio show back home in South Africa via streaming audio. So I went to Good Hope FM and started listening live to the Afternoon Drive Show from 15:00 – 18:00. You have gotta love technology sometimes and I couldn’t resist sending him and SMS letting him know I was tuned in. To prove that I was in fact listening I included a comment about high heels which he was discussing on the show at the time.

About an hour later Guy replied asking if I was still listening and if I was that he would give me a shout out on air. I was still downloading pictures from Shanghai, playing around with resizing and still listening so I replied straight away. Then, after the current song finished, sure enough Guy gave me a shout out on air and this is how it went:

Guy McDonald, you’re a LEGEND – Thanks boyche ! If you want to know more about Guy you should check out his site here.

And rumour has it they are using the sound clip as a promo for Guy’s Afternoon Drive Show so if you are in Cape Town change your radios across to Good Hope FM 94 – 97 and if you are elsewhere visit Good Hope FM online for streaming audio.

So IT’S ALL GOOD my chinas…
