The time has come, the day has arrived, I’ve taught my last class and now it’s time to say goodbye. I’ve finished my second teaching contract here in China and I thought it would be nice to look back over the last 9 months and my experience teaching in a primary school. You may have seen some of my exploits in these previous posts classroom antics, bittersweet ride to work, staff tour to see the flowers and the day we got beer at lunch. Today however I’ve gathered some never before seen photos like this one.
I also took some pictures of the school grounds to give you a better idea of where all this took place and put them together in a video slideshow. Even better, I’ve used the song that gets played everyday at the end of school over a loud-speaker system in every room so you can have the full experience.
Fantastic show guy! You look so happy teaching. Them’s are lucky Chinese to be taught by such a happy polar bear! What are the drops of liquid shooting from your armpits in the chalk diagrammatic of Blessed Teacher?
They are supposed to be fingers I think. The activity involved students drawing a person by calling out one body part at a time. Fun & games.
Rorz! Remember when we were @ Alex Park? I can still name all the teachers, grade 1 to 7. Never thought that one day any of us would ever be teaching, now you helped mould the futures of all these kids, and they’ll always remember their experiences. Keep it up Zimbo! and maybe i’ll catch you @ this reunion we are supposed to have.
Either way! good stuff buddy!
Munya
Thanks Munya. Your memory is better than mine and hopefully I’ve moulded these kids for the better.
Working on the reunion, let’s hope it happens.
Shot for the comment and I hope you are well.
Nice one Rory! Well done, what an achievement!
Thanks Amy. I heard you might be headed back to China next year.
So really nice! It was all a whole lesson…and not only to the kids!
Rory – thanks for the awesome slide show. Music by the children was beautiful! So glad you had that experience. And enjoy the new camera.
Any idea if your next teaching assignment will be to another gorgeous and exciting destination?
It’s been an interesting experience but I’m done with teaching for now. Going to look for another career, perhaps follow my passion to fly.
Hahaha – I think the kids drew a fairly accurate portrait, myself. Definitely got the nose and curly hair down pat!!
It has been awesome following your exploits in your sojourn to China, Rors. Hopefully in the short touring break that follows your contract end (think it’s 2 months, right?) there will be time for an update or two, but failing that I look forward to sharing a beer with you back on SA home ground while you decide where your next adventure will take you.
Enjoy the holiday/travels! 🙂
Haha – you would side with the kids.
Thanks bud but it’s not over yet, lots more updates and pictures coming from my travels. Maybe even a whole new blog so watch this space. Either way there will definitely be some more stories to share over a beer or 2 when I get back.
Great job, other best teacher! “Hao le!”…”Teacher, I’m ok!” …will still ring in your ears from time to time for sure…You will surely be missed as we all did!:)
[…] as far as teaching goes, I’ve had an amazing time and have learnt a lot over the last two years but I don’t think teaching is what I want to do […]
